Michael Sheen – Robert Pattinson Will Always Be Edward Cullen

From HollywoodLife.com

Even though Robert Pattinson, 25, doesn’t have to wear the glittery makeup and uncomfortable contacts anymore … he’s still Edward Cullen.

Michael revealed that even though Rob is in Toronto working on a non-vampire film, Cosmopolis — Rob has a very long way to go before his vampire days are behind him.

“I think Robert has been very clever in the way that he has tried to branch out and do lots of other different things,” Michael says. “Rob has been trying to do that while he’s been doing the Twilight series and all but I think it’s going to take a long time. I think he’ll always be Edward [Cullen] for a whole generation or maybe a few generations of people and it will be difficult to get away from that. But he seems to have a good head on his shoulders.”

“Rob is one of the biggest stars in the world now because of the Twilight series and that can be a good thing or a bad thing,” Michael says. “It’s like when people have played James Bond and you get so associated with one character it means you have a huge audience and there’s a lot of people very interested. But at the same time it might put certain people off casting you as other characters.”

Michael Sheen – Rob Is Very Humble, Pleasant & Hard Working

The Twilight Saga: Eclipse is upon us. You have worked with Robert Pattinson in New Moon. What is he like, and do you see him being able to break free of the role of Edward?
I’m sure he’s not going to have any trouble himself personally, it’s whether the audience will accept him as something else. We’ll see. He certainly has the desire to stretch herself as an actor and try different things. He has a [different] film out at the moment, doesn’t he?

Yes, Remember Me, which is really good.
So I hear. I don’t think he’ll have any trouble. He’ll probably always be Edward Cullen for a whole generation, but I’m sure he won’t have any trouble doing that. And he’s lovely. He’s a very nice English lad who seems to have both feet on the ground. He’s very humble, very pleasant and hard-working. He takes what he does very seriously. I think he’s going to do very well, that young lad.
